SUPERMARKETS


Lidl

A popular supermarket chain, Lidl in Nerja offers a familiar selection of products available worldwide. One of its main attractions is the themed weeks, where you can find products from different countries or special themes, such as Halloween, Easter, and Christmas. If you’re looking for something specific or seasonal, Lidl is a great stop.



Aldi

Conveniently located just across the road from Lidl, Aldi is another great option for grocery shopping. Recently opened in spring, this store carries a range of exclusive brands as well as well-known international names like Trader Joe’s, making it a unique choice for both locals and tourists. They also have a large parking garage directly below, which is especially nice during the summer time.



Mercadona

The pride of the Spanish supermarket scene, Mercadona originates from Valencia and boasts 1,637 stores across the country. In Nerja, you’ll find two locations. The central store has a hot food section offering freshly made meals like grilled chicken and hamburgers. There’s also a corner with microwaves and seating where you can eat the food you’ve purchased. Known for its competitive prices, Mercadona is especially praised for its high-quality yet affordable cosmetic products. Parking in the city center location, however, can be quite tight while their other location right next to Capistrano Village offers plenty of space.

Carrefour Market

Another big name in Nerja, Carrefour also has two branches here. Carrefour is well known for its extensive range of international products alongside popular Spanish brands. It’s also a top choice for beer, wine, and cheese lovers. The city-center Carrefour even offers home goods, clothing, and toys, with these items located on the lower floor, making it a two-level shopping experience.

There are two Carrefour Express stores in Nerja, located at Plaza de España and Calle Castilla Pérez. Though smaller and a bit more expensive, they are open every day, making them convenient options—especially on Sundays during the off-season when other stores might be closed.

China Home

Nerja is home to several “Chinos” (Chinese owned shops), but China Home is the largest. Offering a vast selection ranging from home goods, toys, school supplies, and craft items to renovation materials and clothing, it's a great place to find almost anything. A unique feature of China Home is its loyalty program: you get a 10% credit from each purchase to use on your next visit. Just remember to save the receipt!

On Tuesdays, the market transforms into a vibrant hub where local farmers and producers showcase their fresh fruits, vegetables, and other artisanal goods. You’ll also find an array of local products, including cheeses, olives, breads, and other regional delicacies, all offered at reasonable prices.
